Police Charge Two After Pursuit In Stolen Car At Forbes

Two will face court today charged following a pursuit in the state's Central West yesterday.

Just after 12pm yesterday (Monday 5 May 2025), officers attached to Central West Police District received reports of white Toyota Hilux driving dangerously in the Forbes area.

Following inquiries, a short time later police sighted the Hilux and pulled it up near a service station on Parkes Road, Forbes, before the Hilux allegedly rammed the police vehicle and drove away.

Officers activated their warning devices in an attempt to stop the vehicle. When it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued north on the Newell Highway for about 20km before the Hilux stopped and conducted a u-turn to head back to Forbes. During the pursuit the passenger allegedly threw a bottle at police.

As the Hilux entered Forbes the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.

A short time later, police located the Hilux on Lachlan Street, Forbes, and sighted two males exit the car while the engine was still running. Officers commenced a foot pursuit, and two males were arrested.

The Hilux continued down the street where it crashed into a tree before stopping at the edge of Lake Forbes.

The pair were taken Forbes Police Station.

Checks reveal the Hilux was allegedly stolen from a home on Pattersons Road, Harefield over the weekend.

A 19-year-old man was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and destroy/damage property in company greater than $5000.

He was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court today (Tuesday 6 May 2025).

A 17-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception, part of body outside window or door – passenger, and throw thing onto road or into/onto vehicle on road.

He was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Tuesday 6 May 2025).
