Police charge two drink drivers in same vehicle in Mascot

Police have charged two people with drink driving after stopping the same vehicle twice, at Mascot overnight, NSW Police say.

Shortly before 2am today (Saturday 21 July 2018), officers attached to Botany Bay Traffic & Highway Patrol were conducting stationary random breath testing duties on General Holmes Drive at Mascot.

The officers will allege that they stopped a Holden Captiva and spoke to the 37-year-old female driver.

She returned a positive result to a roadside breath test and was arrested.

A subsequent breath analysis returned a reading of 0.183 and she was issued a court attendance notice for driving with the high range prescribed concentration of alcohol (HRPCA) and had her driver’s licence suspended.

The woman will appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 6 September 2018.

About 2.45am today, the officers observed the same vehicle travelling westbound on the M5 Motorway at Mascot.

The Holden was stopped and the 52-year-old male driver failed a roadside breath test, and was arrested.

At Mascot Police Station he underwent a breath analysis returning a reading of 0.159.

The Fijian national was charged with drive with high range prescribed concentration of alcohol and had his visiting driver privileges within NSW withdrawn.

The man will appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 9 August 2018.
