Two men have been charged following an investigation into an alleged break and enter in the States Central Tablelands area earlier this week.
On Sunday (6 September 2026), officers attached the Chifley Police District commenced an investigation after reports a hotel on Durham Street, Bathurst, was broken into and items stolen, about 12.30am.
Police were told a bandsaw, chainsaw, and off cuts of copper and brass were allegedly stolen.
Following inquiries, about 1.20pm today (Tuesday 8 September 2026), investigators executed a search warrant at a home on George Street, Bathurst.
During a search of the home, officers allegedly located and seized the stolen items, in addition to a ride-on lawn mower allegedly stolen from a Sunny Corner property in April 2026.
A 36-year-old man was arrested at the home, before police attended a business on Keppel Street and arrested a 34-year-old man.
Both men were taken to Bathurst Police Station.
The older man was charged with receiving, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than and or equal to $60000, and two counts of goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle /vessel).
The younger man was charged with receiving, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than and or equal to $60000, and goods in personal custody suspected stolen (not motor vehicle /vessel).
Both men were refused bail to appear before Bail Court Division 4 tomorrow (Wednesday 9 September 2026).
