Police charge two teens after break-in - Operation Southbreak

Two teens have been charged following an investigation into a break-in and theft of a car in the state's north east.

In January 2022, officers attached to Oxley Police District Proactive Crime Team, initiated Operation Southbreak to target high-volume property crime in the Tamworth area.

On Tuesday 15 March 2022 officers from Oxley Police District commenced an investigation in relation to the break-in of a home on Hillcrest Road, Gunnedah.

Police will allege that a Kia Sportage was stolen and involved in a number of pursuits throughout the district.

Following inquiries, about 10am yesterday (Monday 21 March 2022), police arrested two teens at a home in Gunnedah and they were taken to Gunnedah Police Station.

During a search of the home police located and seized six sets of car keys believed to be stolen.

A 14-year-old teen was charged with break and enter house steal value and enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence.

A 15-year-old boy was charged with breach of bail.

The teens were given conditional bail to appear at a children's court on Wednesday 8 June 2022.

Investigations continue.
