Police charge two with commercial drug supply - Riverina

Two men have been charged with commercial drug supply following a strike force investigation in the state's south west.

In February 2020, Strike Force Bulmann was established by investigators from the Southern Region Enforcement Squad to investigate the importation of border controlled drugs in the Wagga Wagga area.

Following an extensive investigation, strike force officers executed a search warrant at a home in Glenfield Park last Tuesday (7 April 2020), seizing laptops, a laser pointer, mobile phone and prescription medication.

Following further inquiries, a 40-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop in Brucedale, shortly after 1pm the following day (Wednesday 8 April 2020).

The man was allegedly found to be in possession of more than 1,800 Xanax tablets and other prescription drugs. A search warrant was executed at the man's Brucedale home a short time later, with investigators seizing numerous electronic devices and a mobile phone.

The man was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with import large quantity of MDMA, import indictable quantity of cocaine, direct criminal group and deal in the proceeds of crime.

A second man, aged 32, was arrested after a vehicle was stopped Horseshoe Road, North Wagga Wagga about 4.50pm on Friday (9 April 2020).

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was charged with import commercial quantity of a border controlled drug and participate in criminal group.

Both men appeared in court and were formally refused bail to re-appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 3 June 2020.
