Police Charge Two Women After Pursuit - Padstow

Two women have been charged following an alleged pursuit in Sydney's south west today.

About 9.30am (Thursday 28 August 2025), Proactive Crime Team officers attached to Police Transport Command were conducting patrols in Engadine, when they sighted two women enter a Toyota sedan vehicle parked on Cambrai Avenue.

Checks revealed one of the women had an outstanding warrant.

Police approached the vehicle to speak to driver, before the driver allegedly drove towards an officer, hitting them with the vehicle and dragging them about 15 meters on top of the bonnet before they got off.

The officer suffered minor injuries.

Following patrols, officers attached to Sutherland Police Area Command sighted the vehicle travelling in a northerly direction on Acacia Road, Kirrawee.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, and when it allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle continued through several suburbs before the pursuit was terminated in on Menai Road, Bangor, due to safety concerns.

About 10am, Highway Patrol officers attached to St George Police Area Command sighted the vehicle travelling on Alfords Points Road, Padstow Heights, before it stopped at a red light.

Officers approached the vehicle and gained entry into the vehicle through a smashed driver side window, before arresting the driver – a 24-year-old woman – and passenger – a 43-year-old woman.

The driver was subject to a roadside drug test which returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine. She underwent a secondary oral fluid sample that was sent away for further analysis.

A subsequent search was conducted of the driver with police allegedly locating and seizing Xanax, and a bottle of GBH.

The passenger was subjected to a roadside drug test which returned a positive reading for methylamphetamine.

They were both taken to Campsie Police Station.

The 24-year-old woman was charged with:

- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously

- Use etc offensive weapon in company to prevent detention

- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period

- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty

- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous

- Possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance

- Possess prohibited drug, and

- Breach of bail.

A warrant was also executed for traffic related offences.

The 43-year-old woman was charged with breach of bail.

They were refused bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court tomorrow (Friday 29 August 2025).
