Police Charge Woman After Hit And Run - Leumeah

A woman has been charged following an alleged hit and run in Sydney's south west today.

About 10am (Tuesday 10 June 2025) emergency services were called to Junction Road, Leumeah, following reports of a crash.

On arrival, officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command were told a pedestrian had been hit by a Mitsubishi sedan while exiting another vehicle before the sedan left the scene.

The pedestrian – a 46-year-old man – was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital where he later died.

Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, officers attached to PolAir located the sedan at a nearby sports centre.

Officers attended and arrested the alleged driver – a 77-year-old woman – before taking her to Campbelltown Hospital for mandatory testing.

She was then taken to Campbelltown Police Station where she was charged with:

  • Dangerous driving occ death-drive manner dangerous
  • Fail to stop & assist after vehicle impact causing death
  • Negligent driving (occasioning death)

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday 8 July 2025.
