Police charge woman after house fire at Murwillumbah

A woman will face court today charged following a house fire in the state's north overnight.

About 11.55pm (Friday 25 November 2022), emergency services were called to a home in Commercial Road, Murwillumbah, following reports of a house fire.

On arrival, officers from Tweed/Byron Police District found the house well alight.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and no one has reported any injuries.

A crime scene was established, and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Following inquiries, a 28-year-old woman was arrested nearby about 1am today (Saturday 26 November 2022).

She was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where she was charged with damage property by fire.

The woman was refused bail to appear before Lismore Local Court today.
