Police charge woman after house fire - Connells Point

A woman has been charged following a house fire in Sydney's south today.

About 12.50pm (Thursday 2 June 2022), emergency services attended a unit on Riverview Avenue, Connells Point, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to St George Police Area Command attended, along with Fire and Rescue NSW, and found the unit well alight.

The blaze was extinguished; however, the unit sustained extensive damage.

There were no reports of injuries.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, a 54-year-old woman was arrested nearby a short time later.

She was taken to Kogarah Police Station where she was charged with intentionally or recklessly damage property by fire/explosive.

The woman was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Friday 3 June 2022).
