Police charge woman with 69 fraud offences - Burwood

A woman will appear in court today charged with nearly 70 fraud-related offences after police seized furniture and electronic devices at Ashfield yesterday.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team commenced an investigation following a break-in at a Chatswood office in December 2019.

Following extensive inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a unit on Thomas Street, Ashfield, yesterday (Tuesday 18 August 2020).

During the search, police seized a large number of items including a three-seater lounge, fridge, coffee table, lamp table, printer, vacuum cleaner, computers, a smart TV, mobile phones and rugs.

It will be alleged that the items were purchased using false identification, which was stolen during the break-in in December 2019.

A 36-year-old woman was arrested at the unit and taken to Burwood Police Station, where she was charged with 69 fraud-related offences.

The Ashfield woman was refused bail and will appear before Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 20 August 2020).

Inquiries are continuing.
