Police Charge Woman With Attempted Murder

A woman has been charged with attempted murder following a serious wounding incident overnight.

Police were called to the Launceston General Hospital shortly before midnight after reports a child had sustained knife wounds.

A 33-year-old Ravenswood woman - who was known to the child – also presented with non-life threatening injuries and has since been charged with attempted murder.

The woman is receiving medical treatment at the hospital where she remains in police custody.

She will appear in a bedside court sitting later today.

The child is in a serious condition and has been flown to Melbourne for medical treatment.
