Police continue to investigate fires in Ararat

Police are appealing for public assistance and continue to investigate two suspicious fires which occurred in Ararat last month, Victoria Police say.

The fires occurred at:

• An abandoned building at the corner of Lowe and Queen Streets, Ararat on Thursday 26 October about 7.30pm

• A house on Tuson Street, Ararat on Sunday 29 October about 7.15pm.

Investigators arrested a 15-year-old Ararat boy on Tuesday 14 November in relation the incident on 26 October; he received an official caution.

Police continue to investigate both incidents and are appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity if each incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

A third fire that occurred at an Ararat primary school, which had also been under investigation, has since been deemed non-suspicious.
