Police continue to investigate Nyah West death

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are in the Swan Hill area today as they continue to appeal for public assistance as they investigate the death of a man in Nyah West last month, Victoria Police say.

A passer-by discovered the man’s body on Nyah West Road, near the intersection with Matson Lane, about 4.30am on Sunday 29 January.

Investigators believe the man was struck by a vehicle while lying on the road, however it’s not known why he was lying down at that time.

The movements of the man are accounted for up until about 3am and it’s believed he is likely to have been alcohol affected.

He has no other injuries apart from those consistent with being struck by a motor vehicle.

The deceased has since been identified as a 23-year-old Tongan national.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV and are

appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at that time to contact police.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
