NSW Police divers have searched two bodies of water, as police continue their investigation into the stabbing murder of a man on the South Coast
Emergency services were called to East Street, Bega, about 2am on Monday 6 October 2025, following reports of a concern for welfare.
Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended and found a 43-year-old man in a park suffering stab wounds. NSW Ambulance responded; however, he died at the scene.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation commenced under Strike Force Nakstone into the circumstances surrounding the death, assisted by detectives attached to the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.
A 45-year-old man also suffered stab wounds and was taken to South East Regional Hospital and has since been released.
On Wednesday 12 November 2025, the NSW State Emergency Service assisted officers attached to the South Coast Police District to search for a knife – believed to be a double edge dagger – which was discarded shortly after the alleged stabbing. However, no knife was located.
Following information from the public, NSW Police divers on Monday 17 November 2025 and yesterday (Tuesday 18 November 2025), searched a private property and the Glebe Wetlands on East Street, Bega. Items were recovered at the first location and were seized for forensic examination.
