Police execute warrants and arrest youths for group thieving in Mill Park

Detectives from the North West Metro Serious Crime Taskforce executed warrants and arrested two male youths in Keilor Downs and Deer Park this morning in relation to an alleged theft from a store in Mill Park on Tuesday 22 October.

The arrests are part of Operation Liege which is an effective state-wide operation targeting group thefts at retail, electronic and telecommunications stores across the state.

Up to six male youths entered an electrical goods store on McDonalds Road about 2.45pm.

It is alleged the youths stole a quantity of mobile phones on display to the approximate value of $19,600 before fleeing the store in a blue Holden Commodore.

Police located the Commodore in a shopping centre carpark on the Melton Highway in Taylors Lakes about 5pm on the same day.

A 16-year-old Keilor Downs boy and a 14-year-old Deer Park boy are currently in custody and are assisting police with their enquiries.

Four offenders are still outstanding and the investigation is ongoing.

Operation Liege is an ongoing state-wide investigative and enforcement capability activated as required to address youth-related offending across Victoria.
