Police 'Hounds' win National Championship , SA

The National Police Football Championship wrapped up on Friday afternoon when the SA ‘Hounds’ Police Football Club defeated arch-rival Victoria and took out the championship and the Tynan/Eyre Cup, according to SA Police.

South Australia proved to be formidable opponents for the Victorians, surging ahead in the first quarter, the game’s final score being SA 14.14.98 to VIC 3.1.19. The game was broadcast live on Facebook and can now be viewed on the SpaceQuake Sports channel on YouTube.

A pre-game ceremony featured Mounted Operations Unit and the SAPOL Pipes and Drums Band piper Rob McGregor leading the service with a riderless horse parading in front of all players and officials. Carrying the Tynan/Eyre Cup, Retired Superintendent Barry Lewis represented SA Police Legacy in honour of officers who have lost their lives on duty.

The Championship successfully raised $1200 for SA Police Legacy through a charity match, half-time activities and sales of Legacy bears and dogs.
