Police Hunt Clues in Sydney West Crime Spree

Police are appealing for public assistance following two break and enters and a carjacking in Sydney's west earlier this month.

About 8.50pm on Sunday 7 June 2026, emergency services were called to a home on Fairmount Street, Merrylands, after reports of a home invasion.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command attended and were told four people broke into the home, armed with machetes and a firearm.

The group allegedly assaulted an occupant and stole a sum of cash before they ran from the home.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the occupant, a 22-year-old man, for a serious hand injury before he was taken to hospital for further treatment.

About 2am on Wednesday 10 June 2026, emergency services were called to a business on Mainline Road, Strathfield, following reports of a break and enter.

A group of five people were disturbed by a security guard and left the area on foot before police were called.

About 2.30am on Wednesday 17 June 2026, police were called to Dartbrook Road, Auburn, after an 18-year-old man was approached by two unknown men in his Toyota ute.

The pair allegedly threatened him with a knife before forcing him from the vehicle and driving from the scene.

A short time later, police observed the vehicle travelling in Merrylands and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit continued through Wentworthville before the driver of the ute reversed into a police vehicle, and the pursuit was terminated.

The 18-year-old man was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

The ute was located later that morning abandoned on Bents Basin Road, Wallacia.

Crime scenes were established and an investigation into the incidents commenced with police believing the three incidents are linked.

As inquiries continue, detectives are releasing CCTV footage of a group of men seen in both the Merrylands and Strathfield areas at the time of the incidents.

The men are described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, in their 20s, and were last seen wearing hooded jerseys, trackpants or shorts, and masks.

Detectives are also appealing for a vehicle of interest believed to be seen in the Wentworthville area around the time of the incident, described as a silver Subaru sedan.

Anyone who recognises these men or these vehicles are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about these incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is managed on a confidential basis. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
