Police Hunt For Brick Throwers In Springvale

Greater Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after multiple cars were damaged in Springvale in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Investigators have been told three youths were observed throwing bricks from an overpass on the Princes Highway on 3 January just before 1am.

As a result, five cars were damaged, with two significantly damaged, from bricks going through windscreens.

The occupant of one vehicle received glass fragments to her eyes requiring treatment from paramedics.

A large amount of debris from the bricks also caused numerous vehicles to receive punctured tyres.

No arrests have been made at this stage and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Quotes attributable to Detective Senior Constable Simon Jacobs:

"Throwing bricks from an overpass is not harmless behaviour. This incident clearly demonstrates that such actions have serious and potentially fatal consequences.

We are extremely fortunate that only one person sustained minor injuries, as the outcome could have been far worse.

I strongly urge those responsible to come forward, take responsibility for their actions, and show some compassion for the person who was injured".

Any witnesses, anyone with vision or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or anonymously at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
