Police investigate armed robbery at Gympie

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a take away shop this morning at Gympie.

Around 5:15am two men entered the shop on Horseshoe Bend, one armed with a metal baton, went behind the counter.

The men have then threatened a 61-year-old female staff with the metal baton, demanding money and cigarettes, before they left on foot with cash and cigarettes.

The men are described as similar in build and height, both are about 170cm tall and slim build and were wearing hoodies covering their faces.

The female staff was not physically injured.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any information to contact to police.
