Police Investigate Armed Robbery At Maryborough

Police have charged a man following an armed robbery in Maryborough last night, 11 August.

Around 7.05pm, officers were called to a licensed venue on Lennox Street, following reports a man, allegedly armed with a knife, had stolen a Toyota Hiace from an employee.

Police tracked the vehicle to Windermere Road in Bargara, where it was allegedly seen driving erratically on the Bruce Highway, before arresting the driver.

A 25-year-old Koongal man has been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, robbery armed, dangerous operation of a vehicle, damaging emergency vehicle when operating motor vehicle, unlawful possession of weapons, driving of motor vehicle without a driver licence, evasion offence and wilful damage.

He has been refused police bail and is due to appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court today, 12 August.
