Police investigate attempted ram-raids at Auburn

An investigation is ongoing following two attempted ram-raids on a business in Sydney's west this week.

About 12.45am on Sunday (31 January 2021), officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended Auburn Road, after reports a Hino truck had reversed into the front of a jewellery shop.

The unknown driver of the Hino exited the truck a short time later and was picked up by a vehicle that was waiting nearby.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Just before 5am today (Tuesday 2 February 2021), police were called to the same shop on Auburn Road after reports a truck had crashed into the shop front.

The driver of that vehicle also left the scene prior to police arrival.

Detectives attended and are conducting inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident, including if the incidents are linked.

No items were reported stolen from either incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
