Police investigate CBD stabbings

Detectives from the Gang Crime Squad are investigating after nine people were stabbed in the CBD overnight.

Police were flagged down by a 19-year-old Dandenong North man who had walked to Southern Cross Station around 2.20am.

The man told police he had been at a party at a Spencer Street address when a fight broke out and he sustained several stab wounds to the upper body.

He was conveyed to hospital in a critical condition where he remains.

A number of other males sustained non-life-threatening stab wounds, including a 19-year-old Langwarrin man and a 20-year-old Berwick man.

They presented at a nearby hospital about 3.50am.

Two 17-year-olds from Truganina and a 17-year-old from South Melbourne presented at a hospital in Werribee with non-life-threatening stab wounds.

A further three victims presented at a hospital in Fitzroy about 2.45am

All aged 19 from Wollert, Truganina and Lalor also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The trio subsequently discharged themselves from hospital.

It is believed that all nine males sustained the injuries at the Spencer Street address.

Police and Major Crime Scene Investigators are continuing to examine the scene and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
