Police investigate eastern suburbs thefts

Police have released images of a man they wish to identify following a series of thefts in the eastern suburbs over the past week, Victoria Police say.

Two sets of number plates were stolen from vehicles parked at a shopping centre on Canterbury Road, Forest Hill on Sunday, 6 August and Monday, 7 August.

The plates were then attached to a vehicle that was used in a petrol drive off at a service station on Canterbury Road, Vermont about 10.45am on 6 August.

They were then used in a second petrol drive off at a service station on Whitehorse Road, Nunawading about 8.20pm on 7 August.

Detectives from Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the thefts and have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incidents.
