Police investigate fatal motorcycle collision in Mirboo North

Police and emergency services responded to reports of a collision in Mirboo North this morning (10 February).

It is believed a motorcycle travelling north-east on the Strzelecki Highway collided into a vehicle at the intersection of Darlimurla Road about 10.50am.

It is believed the vehicle, a red Mitsubishi sedan was waiting to turn into Darlimula Road when the motorcycle crashed into the rear of it.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was uninjured and stopped and assisted at the scene.

It is believed the motorcycle then struck a Toyota 4WD which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The female driver and her male passenger were also uninjured.

The male rider who is yet to be formally identified died at the scene.

The Strzelecki Highway is expected to remain closed between Mirboo North and Thorpdale for a number of hours while the exact circumstances of the collision are investigated.
