Police investigate Flinders Street incident

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an assault at Flinders Street Railway Station last month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators have been told a male tried to steal a packet of chips from a platform kiosk about 3.15pm on 12 February.

The store attendant confronted the male and took the packet of chips back before the male removed a machete from his backpack and swung it at the attendant.

The attendant managed to dodge the blade without being hit.

The male and a female associate boarded a Sunbury bound train shortly after.

Detectives have released images of a male who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
