Police investigate hotel fire in Carlton

Police are investigating a fire at a disused hotel in Carlton this morning, Victoria Police say.

Emergency services were called by a passer-by to the corner of Pelham and Leicester Streets about 6am.

The premises were unoccupied at the time and police are currently treating the fire as suspicious.

The hotel was extensively damaged and an arson chemist is expected to attend the scene later this morning.

Melbourne North Crime Investigation Unit detectives urge anyone with information about the fire to contact Crime Stoppers.
