Police investigate kidnapping incident

Detectives from Casey Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for information as part of an investigation into a series of incidents in Melbourne's south east suburbs.

A warrant was executed at a residential property in Tongola Court this afternoon.

The property is being examined by police to determine if it is a potential crime scene.

Investigators are currently looking at links between a number of incidents in Melbourne's south east suburbs over the past six months, including kidnappings and extortions.

It includes an incident believed to be in early May where a male victim received distinctive burns to his body.

Police initially believed the man had been kidnapped and taken to a park, but now understand he was taken to a house where he was held captive and seriously assaulted for several hours before being released.

While the exact circumstances of the incident are still unclear, investigators are looking at whether it may be connected to drug trafficking.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have further information about the incident or who has witnessed any suspicious activity linked to the property searched by police today.

This includes anyone seen attending the property or any vehicles regularly parked at the address.

Information can also be provided to police anonymously.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
