Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Fulham earlier this evening, Victoria Police say.
The incident occurred on the Princes Highway, approximately 15ks west of Sale, just before 5.30pm.
Police believe the driver of a west-bound car pulled up on the side of the Princes Highway to assist another driver who had driven off the side of the roadway in a road-work area.
As the two occupants of the car, the driver and his passenger, were attempting to cross the Princes Highway one of the men was struck by an east-bound car.
The passenger, a 33-year-old Dandenong died at the scene.
