Police Investigate Port Melbourne Armed Robbery

Transit Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for assistance following an armed robbery in Port Melbourne in January.

Investigators have been told a man was waiting at a tram stop on Graham Street just before 2am on 4 January when he was approached by two unknown males and a female who asked if he wanted to purchase drugs.

The man declined and the three stated they were going to catch a rideshare and walked away.

A short time later one of the males returned to the tram stop, walked up behind the victim, and held a knife to his throat, demanding he hand over his bag.

The victim handed over his bag and wallet and the offender fled on foot.

The 31-year-old Preston man boarded the next tram and reported the incident to police.

One male offender is described as being about 172cm tall with a solid build and was wearing a green hat and dark-coloured tracksuit.

The second male is described as having a rat's tail and was wearing a Gucci hat and a dark-coloured tracksuit.

The female had a thin build, long blonde hair in a ponytail and was carrying a reusable shopping bag.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an online confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
