Police investigate public place shooting - Neath, near Cessnock

Police are investigating a public place shooting in the Hunter Valley overnight.

About 7.30pm, a 23-year-old man was at a property on Cessnock Road, Neath, when he heard a loud bang.

He walked to the front of the property and noticed the windows of a nearby Holden Commodore had been smashed.

On closer inspection, he noticed more damage on the vehicle, believed to be bullet holes and marks.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District arrived a short time later and established a crime scene.

Several items were seized for forensic examination.

Hunter Valley detectives have commenced an investigation and their initial inquiries indicate this was a targeted incident.
