Police investigate Sale incident

Police are investigating following a report of an incident where a woman was sexually assaulted in Sale last weekend, Victoria Police say.

A teenage woman has told police she was walking along Raymond Street on Saturday, 24 September when she was confronted by a man about 11pm near Fitzroy Street.

The man grabbed her and held an unknown object to her neck before telling her not to scream.

They walked to an area several metres away and she asked him to let her go.

The man did, however he then grabbed the woman on the buttock.

The victim then ran off and as she left the area, she saw a vehicle do a u-turn nearby.

The vehicle is described as being a dark coloured sedan with ‘rounder’ headlights, possibly making it an older model of car.

Detectives from the Sale Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team are investigating the incident and appealing for anyone with information on the man involved or the vehicle to come forward.

The man is described as being perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, about 178cm tall with a medium build and a short, dark beard.

At the time of the incident he was wearing a black t-shirt with a red and white print, dark pants and a dirty white beanie.

Anyone who has information about the incident or the man’s identity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
