Police investigate Seaford burglary

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for information following a burglary in Seaford on the weekend.

Investigators have been told unknown offenders forced their way into a sporting club located at East Road Seaford, sometime between Thursday 17 and Sunday 20 June 2021.

They then forced entry to a locked storage room inside the building and stole a number of boxes that contained brand new jumpers and footballs, valued at over $3,000.

The footballs, size four and five and worth about $100 each, are Sherrin and Ross Faulkner branded. The jumpers have SJFC (Seaford Junior Football Club) printed on the back of the collar and are black and yellow in colour.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.

Quotes attributed to Detective Senior Constable Ashleigh Sanders.

"The items stolen during this burglary are mostly useless to anyone else and the club are devastated after all they have been through over the last 18 months," DSC Sanders said.

"The junior club have only returned to matches last weekend, after being unable to play during the pandemic and the club is solely run by volunteers, most of whom are parents of the under 14's team who has been personally affected.

"The stolen items were purchased by the club for the upcoming season, and we would really like to locate them and return them to the club and the children."
