Police investigate Spotswood petrol theft

Police are investigating following a petrol drive-off in Spotswood earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

It is believed a silver Holden Commodore sedan with an unknown male driver, and displaying false registration plates TOL559, attended a service station on Melbourne Road about 3.10am on Thursday 2 March.

The man drove off without making any attempt to pay for the petrol.

Investigators have released images of a vehicle they would like to identify and a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Detectives from the Hobson’s Bay Crime Investigation Unit believe the same offender may be responsible for a number of similar petrol thefts in the Hobson’s Bay area.

Anyone with any information about the theft is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
