Police investigate structure fire at Brighton, TAS

Police are investigating a structure fire which completely destroyed a Brighton residence early this morning, Tasmania Police say.

Around 4.30am, Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police responded to the fire on Creed Court where the residence was fully engulfed. The three residents and family pets escaped the residence uninjured.

A 28-year-old Brighton woman was taken into protective custody and transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital under the Mental Health Act.

"The circumstances of the fire are being investigated by police," said Detective Sergeant Michael Foster of Bridgewater CIB.

"Initial indications are that this was an unfortunate and tragic incident for the family who are very luckily no one was injured."
