Police investigate suspicious fire - Melton West

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for public assistance to help identify three people following a grassfire in Melton West earlier this month, Victoria Police say.

Investigators believe the blaze was deliberately lit to grass under the Roslyn Park Drive overpass about 8.50pm on 3 January.

No one was injured and no property damaged as a result of the fire, however it spread rapidly along the creek before being extinguished by fire crews.

Police have since deemed the fire suspicious and have released CCTV footage of three females they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The trio was last seen running away from the fire along the bike path near the creek.

Anyone who recognises the youths or who may have information in relation to the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
