Police investigate West Ararat fire

Ararat police are investigating a suspicious fire at a vacant block in Ararat this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

Police and emergency services were called to the fire about 4.15pm on Wednesday 14 March.

An area of approximately 50 square metres was burnt out before CFA promptly attended and extinguished the fire.

It is believed a man carrying a green backpack and an Australian flag was seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time to come forward.
