Police investigating after cemetery damage at Cootamundra

Police are appealing for help from the public after several grave sites were damaged at a cemetery in Cootamundra.

About 4pm Sunday (22 March 2020) officers from Riverina Police District were called to a cemetery on the Olympic Highway, Cootamundra, following reports of damage to a number of headstones.

While police are not treating the damage as targeted, investigations are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest a motor vehicle hit four of the headstones, before leaving the scene.

Families affected by the damage have been spoken to by police.
