An investigation is underway following a multi vehicle crash in the state's west this morning.
About 8.40am today (Thursday 14 May 2026), emergency services were called to Mitchell Highway, Neurea, about 65km south of Dubbo, following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

The driver of one of the cars, a man in his 30s, was taken to John Hunter Hospital with an ankle injury. A 69-year-old woman, the driver of the second car, was extricated from her vehicle before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
No other injuries have been reported.
A crime scene has been established and officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District, with the assistance from Crash Investigation Unit, commenced an investigation into the incident.
The road remains closed in both directions.
