Police investigating after shots fired into home at Auburn

Police are investigating a public place shooting at Auburn tonight.

Shortly before 8pm (Monday 15 February 2021), police were called to a townhouse complex on Auburn Road, Auburn, following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers from Auburn Police Area Command established a crime scene after locating a number of bullet holes in the front of a townhouse.

Residents, who were inside at the time, were not injured.

Police have been told at least two men, dressed in black, were seen getting out of a vehicle near the driveway of the townhouse and fired a number of rounds.

As inquiries commenced, officers were notified by staff at Auburn Hospital that a stray bullet – fired at the townhouse - had penetrated through a window at the rear of Auburn Hospital.

A nurse suffered a minor injury to her leg and was treated.

Auburn detectives, together with the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad are now conducting a full investigation and are calling for anyone who may have information that can assist to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
