Police investigating deliberately lit fire on South Bruny Island

Police are investigating a deliberately lit fire in bushland near the shore at South Tinpot Bay on South Bruny Island yesterday, Tasmania Police say.

The fire had commenced on private property on Lighthouse Road in thick scrub around 2am and spread to a nearby shed which was completely destroyed. The shed and contents are valued at $80,000. The fire burnt an area of land on the property before being brought under control by the Tasmania Fire Service.

The fire has been determined as deliberate and Kingston Criminal Investigation Branch are calling for any witnesses to the fire, or reports of people acting suspiciously on South Bruny Island.
