Police investigating reckless wounding incident in Campbelltown

Police are investigating after a reckless wounding incident in Campbelltown overnight, NSW Police say.

Just after 9.30pm today, police were called to licensed premises on Railway Street following reports of a man being disruptive.

Police have been told a 42-year-old man allegedly attempted to steal handbags off a table at the location when he was confronted by a 47-year-old man.

There was an altercation between the men and other patrons during which it is alleged the 47-year-old man had the tip of his finger bitten off.

Officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended the location and arrested the 42-year-old man.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and is assisting with inquiries.

The 47-year-old man was taken to Liverpool hospital for treatment.

Inquiries into the incident continue.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
