Police investigating wounding at Gympie

Police are appealing to the public for dashcam footage in relation to a wounding at Gympie yesterday afternoon, Wednesday March 23.

Police were called to a Pine Street address at approximately 1pm to reports a man had suffered a stab wound.

Initial investigations indicate an altercation had occurred between a 47-year-old Tamaree man and a man and a woman known to him.

It's believed the pair were attempting to steal the 47-year-old man's vehicle, when he was stabbed in the chest with a knife.

Both the man and the woman then ran from the scene.

The victim self-presented to Gympie Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police would like to speak to the man and woman believed to be involved.

The man is described as in his early 30s, Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170cm tall with a proportionate build and brown hair. It's believed he was wearing a white t-shirt, dark coloured shorts, red shoes and was carrying a cross-body bag.

The woman is described as in her mid-20s, Caucasian in appearance, approximately 176cm tall with a slim build and dark brown hair.

Anyone with dashcam footage in the area at the time, or relevant information, is urged to contact police.
