Police Involved Shooting, West End

A 17-year-old girl has been shot by police in West End in Townsville yesterday.

Police were called to a hotel on Ingham Road just before 5.30pm following reports a 17-year-old girl armed with a knife was making threats.

It will be alleged the teenager armed with the knife came at police and was subsequently shot in the abdomen.

First aid was immediately provided by officers before she was transported to hospital for treatment.

A crime scene was declared, and investigations are continuing.

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating the incident with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
