Police lay armed robbery charges at Calamvale

Acacia Ridge Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have charged a man following the alleged armed robbery of a jewellery store in Calamvale last week.

Investigators will allege two men dressed in black and wearing balaclavas entered the Compton Road business, around 5pm on Monday May 22, before producing firearms and demanding merchandise from two staff, who complied and were not physically injured.

Officers allege the pair stole a large quantity of jewellery and fled the scene in a car which was later located at a Capricorn Street, Flagstone address following the execution of a search warrant yesterday morning.

A 20-year-old Flagstone man was taken into custody without incident and was charged with one count of armed robbery and multiple weapon and drug offences.

His bail was denied ahead of an appearance in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, May 30.

Investigations are ongoing.
