Police lay armed robbery charges at Lawnton

Police have charged a man after he allegedly attempted to rob a shop in Lawnton this afternoon before being wrestled by two members of the public.

It will be alleged at about 2.50pm a man entered the Gympie Road second hand dealer and threatened a staff member with a metal bar and smashed a glass display cabinet.

Two members of the public wrestled the man to the ground before police arrived a short time later.

The 28-year-old female staff member was not physically injured during the incident.

A 28-year-old Zillmere man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery and enter premises.

He will appear at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today.
