Police Lay Armed Robbery Charges At Logan Central

Detectives from Logan Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following an armed robbery at Logan Central earlier today, 19 March.

It will be alleged that around 1.50am, a woman at a service station on Wembley Road was approached by an unknown man as she returned to her vehicle.

Police will allege the man, armed with a screwdriver, then demanded the keys to the vehicle. The woman complied, and the man entered the Kia K4, before fleeing the scene.

The 25-year-old victim was not physically injured during the incident.

Officers monitored the vehicle's movements as it travelled north into Brisbane and at around 3.45am, police tracked the vehicle to an address on Scott Street at Stafford Heights.

It will be alleged that as police approached, the driver deliberately rammed two police vehicles in an attempt to evade apprehension, damaging both vehicles.

The driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody nearby as a result of a coordinated operation involving multiple specialised police units, including the tactical Crime Squad, Criminal Investigation Branch, patrol officers and the dog squad.

A 30-year-old Leichhardt man has been charged with two counts of damaging emergency vehicle when operating motor vehicle and one count each of robbery armed and unlawful use of motor vehicles.

He is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 19 March.

Investigations are ongoing.
