Police lay armed robbery charges at Pimpama

Police have charged a man following an armed robbery at a Pimpama supermarket last night.

Around 7.30pm a 45-year-old man entered the supermarket along Jacob Well Road and demanded money from the staff.

The man then left the store on foot where it is alleged he then produced a gun towards staff who were following him.

Upon police arrival the dog squad were able to track the man and located him clothing, the stolen money and the handgun.

The man was located shortly after in nearby bushland and was taken into custody without incident.

The 45-year-old Aspley man has been charged with one count each of enter premises and armed robbery.

He will appear at Southport Magistrates Court on December 20.
