A woman has been charged following an alleged carjacking in Sydney's west this morning.
About 10:30am (Saturday 20 December 2025), police were called to the M4 Motorway near Reservoir Road, Blacktown, following reports a woman was seen trying to get out of the passenger's side of a moving delivery van.
Police attended and officers attached to Blacktown Highway Patrol located the vehicle travelling along the M4 Motorway, Blacktown.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle; however, when it failed to stop as directed a pursuit was initiated which was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command located the passenger of the van – a 30-year-old woman on King Street, Parramatta – she was uninjured.
With assistance of Polair, and the Tactical Operations Group, the vehicle was stopped on James Ruse Drive, Rosehill.
The driver – a 48-year-old woman – was arrested and taken to Granville Police Station.
Initial inquiries by Nepean Police Area Command officers revealed the vehicle was stolen from Canberra Street, Oxley Park.
Following inquiries, the 48-year-old was charged with take & drive conveyance without consent of owner (two counts), take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage cause actual bodily harm, and police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously.
Police will allege in court the woman stole a second vehicle outside a hospital in Kingswood, before stealing the van.
She was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 21 December 2025).
