Police lay charges after cyclist fatality in Burnside Heights

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal collision which occurred in Burnside Heights this morning (1 July).

It is believed a cyclist riding along Westwood Drive was struck by a Holden sedan about 12.20am.

The male cyclist, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Burnside Heights, who stopped at the scene, has been charged with culpable driving.

He has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
