Police lay charges - Aggravated Robbery in Darwin 12 October

Northern Territory police have arrested and charged a 47-year-old male following an investigation into an aggravated robbery in Coconut Grove.

At around 3am on 29 September it's alleged the 47-year-old knocked on the door of the residence of a 77-year-old male. He assaulted the older man and stole a small amount of cash. The alleged offender returned a short time later and again allegedly assaulted the 77-year-old and took the man's remaining cash.

The older man sustained head injuries including a broken jaw and has had to return to hospital for further treatment.

Detectives from Serious Crime obtained CCTV footage and spoke to nearby residents and late this afternoon arrested the 47-year-old man in Marrara.

He has been charged with:

  • Robbery - aggravated
  • Aggravated unlawful entry
  • Serious harm

The man has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.
